Safer Chemicals, Healthy Families
WTC is part of the Safer Chemicals Healthy Families Campaign, a national effort to reform the way chemicals are regulated and to put in place the strongest, most protective standards for toxic chemicals. We work with groups across the country to take our message to Congress and ask for commonsense, family friendly chemical laws- ones that don’t harm our health or environment.
We are unknowingly exposed to toxic chemicals where we live, where we work, and where our children play because federal chemical laws don't adequately protect us from harmful chemicals used in consumer products.
That’s why we're part of the Safer Chemicals He
althy Families Campaign, a national effort to reform the way chemicals are
regulated and to put in place the strongest, most protective standards
for toxic chemicals.

What We Want
We work with groups across the country to take our message to Congress and ask for commonsense laws- ones that don’t harm our health or environment. We're asking Congress to reform the current law regulating chemicals, the Toxics Substances Control Act (TSCA), to:
- Immediately initiate action to eliminate chemicals that build up in our bodies or are passed on to the next generation.
- Reduce the use of chemicals that can cause serious health problems such as cancer and reproductive harm.
- Require manufacturers to create consumer products using only chemicals tested fully for safety and to provide full information on their hazards to the public.
- Preserve the rights of the states to enact legislation that sets higher chemical safety standards than federal law.
