Art and Hobby Materials

Art and Hobby Materials

Why be Concerned?

Hazardous art and hobby products include adhesives, paints, spray coatings, markers, photography chemicals, and a host of specialized products for different hobbies. The hazards vary widely both in nature and degree, but solvent-based products used frequently and with poor ventilation can be especially dangerous. Also of special concern are products used by children, since children are more susceptible to toxic chemicals than adults are.

Disposal of Art and Hobby Supplies

Many art and hobby materials require special disposal. If you are a professional artist or craftsperson, even if you work at home, you may not be entitled to use your local household hazardous waste facility. Check with your local solid waste utility or health department for disposal instructions.
