Ask your Members of Congress to become co-sponsors of the Toxic Chemicals Safety Act

— expired

Representatives Bobby Rush (D-IL) and Henry Waxman (D-CA) have unveiled the Toxic Chemicals Safety Act HR 5820, the strongest bill ever introduced to protect our families from toxic chemicals. However, introduction of the bill is only the first step in ensuring our laws are updated to protect children and families from harmful chemicals. Now we need to show there is broad support for the bill in Congress.

Ask your Members of Congress to become co-sponsors of the Toxic Chemicals Safety Act

Awhile back we asked you to email your Congressperson about strengthening a federal bill, before it was introduced, to require the chemical industry to ensure chemicals are safe before they end up in our homes, schools, and places of work? Well, it worked! And now Representatives Bobby Rush (D-IL) and Henry Waxman (D-CA) have unveiled the Toxic Chemicals Safety Act HR 5820, the strongest bill ever introduced to protect our families from toxic chemicals.

However, introduction of the bill is only the first step in ensuring our laws are updated to protect children and families from harmful chemicals. Now we need to show there is broad support for the bill in Congress.

We need your help today to ask your Members of Congress to become co-sponsors of this historic opportunity.

Our current chemical laws are woefully out of date. The last time the chemical law
(called the Toxics Substances Control Act or TSCA) was updated was 1976, when
smoking was permitted in airplanes, hospitals, and all other public places. There were no laws requiring that children or adults wear seatbelts. Lead was still being added to gasoline. Thankfully, we know so much more now and it's time our laws were brought into the 21st century.

Will you help us ensure the strongest protections for your family?
