Tell legislators it's time to eliminate BPA!
Urge them to make protecting the health of Washington families a priority by passing the Safe Baby Bottle Act!
"I do my best to live organic and chemical-free...the fight is too big for just one person!" -Molly Gray, WTC Study Participant
Molly was one of 9 west coast mothers-to-be who were tested for toxic chemicals as part of a new Washington Toxics Coalition Study released last week. We found all of the women in our study had toxic chemicals in their bodies, including bisphenol A (BPA.) This means that when babies are born, they've already spent nine months developing in an environment contaminated with BPA, a chemical linked to cancer, reproductive problems, and diabetes.
Ask them to stand up to the chemical industry and eliminate BPA from children's food containers!
The results of the study are troubling: all nine of the mothers carry in their bodies toxic chemicals that have been linked to serious health effects. In particular, exposure to BPA before birth has been linked to a host of health problems including early puberty, infertility, and cancer.
After they're born, children's exposure continues from countless sources, including baby bottles, sippy cups and infant formula cans. Thankfully, we have a monumental opportunity to do the right thing in Washington state and eliminate BPA from food and beverage containers intended for young children.
While this fight may be too big for Molly to take on alone, it's not too big for all of us! Washington families need our help protecting children from toxic chemicals. Let's make sure babies are protected from BPA in their bottles and infant formula cans.
Urge them to make protecting the health of Washington families a priority by passing the Safe Baby Bottle Act!
