Let's End The Toxic Toy Story
PVC is nasty stuff. Every stage in its life cycle involves the production, use, and release of toxic chemicals, with some of the culprits including dioxin, mercury, lead, cadmium, organotins, and phthalates. Is that what we want our kids playing with?

Public health advocates didn’t think so, and in 2008 the Toys R Us corporation promised to move away from PVC. However, independent testing of a large sample of Toys purchased at Toys R Us shows the use of PVC is still prevalent and unlabeled. Chemicals that have been linked to chronic diseases in children, impaired child development, cancer, and birth defects have no place in children’s toys.
A coalition of parents, consumer advocates, environmental justice organizations, workers and others is asking Toys R Us to "End the Toxic Toy Story," label PVC presence on all toys, and agree to a complete phaseout of the poison plastic within a clear and concrete timeframe.
