Take The Next Step

I was talking to a friend and fellow festival attendee the other day; she had just been to a fun event where she had met like minded people and shown her support for the planet but had left asking “what’s next?” I have a feeling she is not alone.

If you are ready to take your commitment to a toxic-free world to the next level this fall and meet with your state legislators email me at action@watoxcs.org.

Take The Next Step

Soaking up some sun at a summer festival.

Like most sun-deprived Seattleites, I tried to take full advantage of our long summer days and spend some quality time in the great outdoors. Among the traditional litany of hiking, barbecues and family reunions I also found time to soak up some rays at a few of the many environmentally-themed festivals that bring us together in our city parks.

Every year the Washington Toxics Coalition works with our supporters to set up meetings to educate our state legislators about toxic chemicals. Participants are not expected to be policy experts, and we provide guidance every step of the way.

This year we need your help to educate your legislators about the use of cancer-causing Tris Flame Retardants in children’s products like car seats, nursing pillows and changing pads. It’s time to put in place safeguards so that companies can’t replace one toxic chemical with another.

As the days get shorter and cooler this fall, I hope you will be able to join us indoors, at a coffee shop near you, for an important conversation with your legislator. We will be working to make our planet a less-toxic place for the next generation so that they too can enjoy healthy, happy summers in the great outdoors for years to come.

From the field,

Anna Dyer, WTC Field Organizer
