Up, Up, and Away!

— filed under: BPA, Parents and Kids, Activists, 2011 Legislative Session, Environmental health, Toxic Toys

People are getting pretty steamed about all the toxic chemicals in products they use every day. So steamed they’ve created the League of Everyday Superheroes to fight for better regulation of toxic chemicals. But they need more Everyday Superheroes like YOU to join the fight.

Up, Up, and Away!

Somewhere in Washington state... a parent is unknowingly tucking a child in with a formaldehyde tainted blanket, a mother is pulling her hair out when she learns her child’s costume jewelry contains cancer-causing cadmium, and a chemical industry lobbyist is working overtime to block much needed legislation to protect children from hormone-disrupting and brain-damaging chemicals.

Sounds like a job for The League of Everyday Superheroes!

All over the state people are getting pretty steamed about the toxic chemicals in products they use every day.  So steamed they’ve created the League of Everyday Superheroes to fight for better regulation of toxic chemicals.  But they need more Everyday Superheroes like YOU to join the fight.

Ready to try on a cape?  Join us for the first League of Everyday Superheroes meeting- we need you to be part of the solution.

On Saturday, January 15th, we’re gathering all of our caped crusaders together to formulate a plan of action for 2011. This is a FREE kid-friendly event.  We’ve got some great ideas, but we’d love to hear your ideas too!   We’ll also be training on some of the finer points of lobbying and other ways to help so our Superheroes can be more effective activists.

When: Saturday, January 15th, 2011 10am-12pm

Where: Good Shepherd Center, Room 202, 4649 Sunnyside Ave, Seattle, WA

Can you come to the first ever League of Everyday Superheroes meeting?

We’ve got a big legislative session coming up this year.  We’ll be working to pass a new bill that will prioritize chemicals harmful to kids for phase-out in favor of safer chemicals.  The Department of Ecology and Governor Gregoire is behind it- but manufacturers, already complaining about previous laws like the Children's Safe Products Act, are sure to push back hard.  We need to make sure our representatives in Olympia know that kids come first!

Click here to RSVP for the first ever League of Everyday Superheroes meeting.

We can't wait to see you there!
