We're Celebrating Independence From BPA!

— filed under: BPA, Parents and Kids, Activists, bisphenol A, Environmental health, Safe Baby Bottle Act, 2010 Legislative Session

Phase one of the Safe Baby Bottle Act goes into effect today. From this day forth all baby bottle, sippy cups and children’s dishware sold in Washington will be BPA-free. It’s time to celebrate! Back in 2010, Washington state became the 5th state in the nation to ban BPA in baby bottles and children’s dishware. 1 year later, all those products are required, as of July 1st, 2011, to be BPA-free!

We're Celebrating Independence From BPA!

It’s time to raise a BPA-free bottle and cheers to Washington’s independence from the toxic, hormone disrupting chemical bisphenol-A (BPA)

Phase one of the Safe Baby Bottle Act goes into effect today. From this day forth all baby bottle, sippy cups and children’s dishware sold in Washington will be BPA-free.  Back in 2010, Washington state became the 5th state in the nation to ban BPA in baby bottles and children’s dishware.  1 year later, all those products are required, as of July 1st, 2011, to be BPA-free!

You can join the party on our Facebook page and admire a gallery of photos from our campaign to ban BPA.

It’s thanks to all the hard work of activists and supporters that we’re able to celebrate this victory.  If it weren’t for all your phone calls, postcards, and constituent meetings, we wouldn’t be celebrating today the protection of young kids from a dangerous chemical.  It’s also thanks to you that Washington state is leading the nation in eliminating dangerous substances in all sorts of applications, from coal-tar sealants to lead wheel weights and copper brake pads.

We couldn’t do it without you and we hope you’ll stick with us as we continue to fight for health and the environment.

Now that kids’ dishware is safe, we’re eagerly awaiting July 1st, 2012, when the ban on BPA in sports bottles takes effect!

Happy Fourth of July!

P.S. Right now we are excited about a bill being considering in the other Washington that would fix our nation’s failed chemical safety law. Please call Senators Cantwell and Murray and ask them to co-sponsor the Safe Chemicals Act today.
